You'd have to think gamers have to at least appreciate the variety. With a game like this one, that can be played for hours, it's a good idea to have some variety in musical selections.

Items are seemingly an even bigger deal in SSBU than in previous versions. Using the items on the stage properly can stem the tide of battle. There is also an increased number of Pokemon trophies and assists as well.

After launch, Nintendo is going to release five DLC characters. They haven't spilled the beans on all of them, but gamers who have purchased the Fighter Pass will receive them at no additional cost, plus Piranha Plant, which you'll get if you register SSBU on MyNintendo by January 31, 2019.

This feels like one of–if not the–must-have title for Nintendo Switch in 2018 and 2019. Let's hope some unforeseen issue doesn't ruin things.

This iconic series has rarely produced a dud and with more characters than ever, expectations are high for yet another noteworthy achievement. SSBU releases on December 7 and here are the 10 things you should know about the final major video game release of 2018.

The Standard Edition will cost $59.99 and just comes with the game. MyBestBuy and Amazon Prime members are getting $10 reward certificate for buying the game.

There's a grand $360 Nintendo Switch bundle that comes with SSBU. That's a great deal for anyone who hasn't bought a Switch just yet. At BestBuy, you'll still get the $10 reward certificate.

There's also the SSBU Special Edition for $140. Best Buy's deal is available for that one as well. It includes the game, an SSBU Pro Controller and a collectible steel box. This isn't a bad deal for someone looking for a special or second controller. SSBU is pretty fun with couch play, so it's a sensible option.

As I mentioned, the SSB series has set a significantly high bar. The last version of the game was released on both the Nintendo 3DS and the WiiU. The latter version received a 92 Metacritic score. That made it one of the highest-rated games on the site in 2014.

When and if you grab a copy or download SSBU, you'll need to download the game's Day 1 patch. According to Masahiro Sakurai, the director, it is needed to ensure the replay system is functioning properly. We don't know exactly how big the update will be, but with a game as highly anticipated as this one, I'd strongly recommend having a little more patience to enjoy the intended experience.

This version boasts a whopping 74 characters. That gives it the largest roster in SSB's history.

SSBU will feature two new single-player modes. One is called World of Light. You control the cast of characters individually against a supervillain named Galeem. You start off with Kirby as the main character, but it seems as if the other characters may be unlockable during your journey.

Spirit Board is something of a challenge mode where the characters have their own virtual trading cards. The cards are on a rotation bounty board and you have the opportunity to challenge and beat them to earn spirits. If you beat a spirit you get to keep it, but they're only available for a short time.

It reminds me a little of a collectible mode in a sports video game like Madden or NBA 2K.

There are more than 100 stages in the game and each of them has a Battlefield and Final Destination version. It should also be mentioned, all of the stages I've seen have been rendered with vibrancy and personality.
