Great content, very poor app
For starters, I love Adventures in Odyssey! The Bible centered content is excellent. Was so excited to start a AIO club membership. But I have been sorely disappointed. This is the poorest quality app I have downloaded in a long time. This app appears to be the center of the membership and it needs major help. (1) The app is VERY outdated. It is NOT fully optimized for retina screens, the bottom buttons and other elements are still low-res. Retina screens have been out a long time. Also, it doesn’t function as a media player. You cannot play back audio and do anything else in the app at the same time. (2) It has some serious connectivity issues. It constantly brings up messages about “No network connection” or “Snap, the episodes didn’t load” even when there is a fast, functioning network connection. Also, if the network connection isn’t fast enough it won’t even open the app. It will stay on the “updating application” spin wheel screen indefinitely. My data is throttled at a certain point and when I hit this the app will not even open. Although all other apps will function fine (just slow) it appears to have a network timeout function or something that causes it to fail every time. Anyway, Focus on the Family is an amazing organization and it will be so nice if they would completely overhaul this app!
Some suggestions but I LOVE IT
I’ve listened to odyssey as long as I can remember, and I’ve been around for a couple decades. Joining the adventures in odyssey club was one of the best decisions I have ever made! This app is awesome, as well. I do, however, have some suggestions for the app that would just make its use a bit more convenient. Even if they don’t get used though I’ll still use the app because ODYSSEY. Anyway, it would be really cool if you could still look at other episodes while LISTENING to an episode. I tend to spend a LOT of time scrolling through albums and searching for which episodes I want to listen to next. Sometimes I get frustrated because I want to listen and scroll at the same time.
Also, I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this, but in my app the newest album (forgive me, I can’t think of the name at the moment) shows up twice, but the one that shows up first has only one episode. It seems like there are a couple like this but I’m actually listening to an episode right now so I can’t think or look. 😂 I just noticed there is an update available, though, so it may fix this issue.

Love, love, LOVE! This app has saved my sanity and built my creativity many, many times! I’m a die-hard Odyssey fan and an artist as well. I spend countless hours on commissions for clients as well as a college student who spends a lot of time driving between classes or just in my car overall. I love being with people and listening to Odyssey helps me feel like I’m with friends as I do my artwork or am eating lunch in my car between classes. ;) it is a great refreshment as I feel like a carefree kid again after a crazy college lecture about things I don’t believe or (yeah, I’m a die-hard fan) as I cry when a show I may have heard a bajillion times inspires me again. It helps me be able to relax and do artwork and not worry about anything that would be displeasing to God. It’s really my all around go to app and inspiration for the sometimes endless art hours. In all seriousness though, this app has been AMAZING for me and my family knows that when the beats are on it’s Odyssey time and I’m feeling inspired. It definitely feeds imagination, creativity and faith in God and those are just a few of the many reasons I love it.
